Friends: What is that white stuff falling from the sky? It's certainly
not seagull feathers nor down from a Canada Goose - darn, it must be -
it IS - SNOW!!! OK, so whose idea of a cruel joke
is this? The Olympics are over, we trucked in snow from all over the
place to local mountains because there wasn't any there, and now, when
we are just breaking out the lawn mowers, this happens!
What a crazy place to live!!
Oh well, fortunately for you,
the weather outside can be forgotten as entertainment is but a click
away with this week's podcast from your friends at DonsPodRadio/CKW.
Today
marks the beginning of a brand new feature I know you will enjoy -
around the 54 minute mark of the program, AL MURPHY begins what I know is going to become a very popular
segment - SPORT DE JOUR! And, to
whet your appetite for more, more, more - at the end of each commentary,
Al poses a trivia question - the answer of course, provided the
following week. (I have no idea what the answer is to this week's
poser). So, have a listen and enjoy!
Also, you can look to the main site of DonsPodRadio for this week's
SPORT DE JOUR segment, as well as to the Best Of Murphy website for the
whole collection, starting later in the week.
Canada's Prime
Minister Stephen Harper announced in the speech from the throne that he
was contemplating changes to the wording of O Canada! The backlash was
immediate and within 48 hours, the idea was shelved. Dean and Hatch
(ROCK 101 - Vancouver) had their own idea of changes to the anthem and
they can be heard here, around the 30 minute mark of this week's show.
James Murphy drops by with the Motown Moments segment, Michael Godin
with Rock and Roll News, Joey Day with the J-DAZE Double Play of the
Week (Del Shannon), Al Murphy with Retrospective and Sport de Jour and
me(??) - well I have the TV Tune of the Week.
Oh yes, somewhere in the midst of all this high priced talent, I
also drop in with the "little rock" part of the show - music I know you
are going to enjoy!
So, what are you waiting for - click on the
link for A LITTLE ROCK, AND A LITTLE TALK.
Want to listen to DPR/CKW on your MP3 Player? Well, now you can! Download this week's file to your computer - you can either listen at your leisure, or upload to any MP3 Player for listening on the go! "Right click" on the microphoneand save the file to your computer!!
It will take a few minutes to download, as the file is large - (+/-) 70 Mb
Donald Roberts: I am a retired print plant manager, with a
love of music and radio - in 1967 I went to broadcasting school, and
earned a diploma. Then real life kicked in, and I found a job at a
printing company, where I stayed for the next 38 years. I have always
had some kind of home studio, and it is there where donspodradio was
born. Now I can do what I love, and do it for people who also love the
music and listen to our program each week.
Al Murphy is also a retiree from the same company - Don was in
Manufacturing and Al in Human Resources! Al resides in Fergus, Ontario,
which is a little bit west of Toronto - Don on the other hand, lives in
Coquitlam, British Columbia, a bedroom community of Vancouver. When donspodradio hit the web back in February, 2006, Al was the
very first visitor - it wasn't long before he had recorded some promos
for the station, and as they say, the rest is history.
Now, every week Al drops by on the 20's with RETROSPECTIVE - his look
back at issues of interest to him, and we hope, you as well.
Every once
in a while, Al either co-hosts a program, or takes over entirely - and
his love of the music and information of the times shows through! It
takes a bit of engineering to stretch the string tight between the two
tin can microphones that link our studios, but it is well worth the
effort!
So, please join Al and me weekly, as we rock to the sounds of GREAT OLDIES -
65 minutes each week - right here! Over THREE YEARS in podcasting, and still
going strong!
We hope you enjoy the weekly program and will take the time to email us
at dpr.adio@hotmail.com - dpr.ckw@gmail.com or through this service provider.
THE HEART OF ROCK AND ROLL - THE DONSPODRADIO/CKW STUDIO
DONSPODRADIO/CKW STUDIO
After
almost a year working from a rather confined space, I tore the studio
apart and rebuilt it almost from the ground up. The result is a studio
that is very user friendly, and that has all the bells and whistles
that I need to produce a very professional sounding podcast
The addition of a second turntable will allow for "all vinyl" shows any time the urge hits.
The shack out back is full of great old records, all just waiting for air play.
