THE CURRENT PODCAST

Friends:  We are back to full operation this week with Podcast 205 from DonsPodRadio/CKW - now being heard on EQUITAS FM 106.8 Christchurch, New Zealand, on Saturday nights at 7:00 p.m.

Thanks to Shaun Edwards and the very nice people at Equitas for broadcasting our podcast on their station.

This week, lots of focus on Rock and Roll.  Today, we "officially" start James Murphy's expanded role on the program with his feature, MOTOWN AND MORE.  James will play two tunes - the first from his very vast Motown collection, and the second, from his (now famous) Funk Trunk!  I know you will thoroughly enjoy this segment of the program, heard around the 10 minute mark.

Wedged in between "Motown" and "More" we will be featuring a new little bit, asking you "HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW THE GREATEST MUSIC OF ALL TIMES?"  And if that is not enough, I look to the "W.T.H." file of the week for a bit of zany news (What The Heck?)

Sometimes Al Murphy (no relation to James) really digs deep to come up with topics for his RETROSPECTIVE commentaries, heard on the 20's and also featured at www.bestofmurphy.podomatic.com
.  This week is no exception, with an excellent comment on the Beatles' HARD DAYS NIGHT.  How and where Al digs up information like that which he shares with us this week is a mystery to me - but I sure do appreciate his hard work week after week and always look forward to the weekly RETROSPECTIVE commentary.

Michael Godin in here at the bottom of the hour with three minutes of the latest ROCK AND ROLL NEWS, and Al is back around the 50 minute mark with this week's SPORT DE JOUR commentary - a look at a sports "miracle!"

I take over the rest of the program with non stop hits - the GREATEST MUSIC OF ALL TIME - including our weekly INSTRUMENTAL feature, our CANADIAN ARTIST of the week, and this DJ's DOUBLE PLAYS - featuring Jimmy Jones.

GIVE US 75 MINUTES EACH WEEK, AND WE PROMISE TO DO OUR BEST TO KEEP YOU ENTERTAINED AND INFORMED

A little rock and a little talk - all right here on DonsPodRadio/CKW/Equitas 106.8 FM

Big Daddy Donald Roberts

The Little Irishman, Al Murphy

Donald Roberts:  I am a retired print plant manager, with a love of music and radio - in 1967 I went to broadcasting school, and earned a diploma. Then real life kicked in, and I found a job at a printing company, where I stayed for the next 38 years. I have always had some kind of home studio, and it is there where donspodradio was born. Now I can do what I love, and do it for people who also love the music and listen to our program each week.

Al Murphy is also a retiree from the same company - Don was in Manufacturing and Al in Human Resources!  Al resides in Fergus, Ontario, which is a little bit west of Toronto - Don on the other hand, lives in Coquitlam, British Columbia, a bedroom community of Vancouver. When donspodradio hit the web back in February, 2006, Al was the very first visitor - it wasn't long before he had recorded some promos for the station, and as they say, the rest is history. Now, every week Al drops by on the 20's with RETROSPECTIVE - his look back at issues of interest to him, and we hope, you as well.

Every once in a while, Al either co-hosts a program, or takes over entirely - and his love of the music and information of the times shows through!  It takes a bit of engineering to stretch the string tight between the two tin can microphones that link our studios, but it is well worth the effort!

So, please join Al and me weekly, as we rock to the sounds of GREAT OLDIES - 65 minutes each week - right here!  Over THREE YEARS in podcasting, and still going strong!  We hope you enjoy the weekly program and will take the time to email us at dpr.adio@hotmail.com - dpr.ckw@gmail.com or through this service provider.

Rock on.

THE HEART OF ROCK AND ROLL - THE DONSPODRADIO/CKW STUDIO

DONSPODRADIO/CKW STUDIO

After almost a year working from a rather confined space, I tore the studio apart and rebuilt it almost from the ground up.  The result is a studio that is very user friendly, and that has all the bells and whistles that I need to produce a very professional sounding podcast

The addition of a second turntable will allow for "all vinyl" shows any time the urge hits.

The shack out back is full of great old records, all just waiting for air play.
